What to do: If not using a saniderm or secondskin bandage, leave your tattoo wrapped for at least two hours, and no more than 24. If you have received a saniderm or secondskin bandage it may be left on for 2-5 days. A saniderm bandage will likely fill with fluid & ink creating a “blister” this is normal and will not hurt your tattoo. & Remove saniderm immediately if it starts to peel off or any leakage occurs. Once your bandage is removed repeat steps 1 through 3 twice daily for at least two weeks.

Gently wash your new tattoo with running water (faucet or shower) and a mild, unscented soap (Dr. Bronner’s unscented castile soap is a great option.), or a soap made specifically for wound care (Hibiclens is also a great option.)Pat your tattoo dry with a clean cloth or disposable paper towel.Dab on a light layer of ointment, aquaphor or balms specifically for tattoo healing are good options.

What to avoid:
Do not soak your tattoo in any water for at least a month after getting it, this includes pools, hot tubs, baths, and any natural bodies of water.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure & do not go tanning for at least a month after getting a tattoo. (use spf daily & avoid tanning altogether to prevent your tattoo from fading long term.)

Avoid sweating heavily on your new tattoo for two weeks if possible.
Do not pick at, scrub or scratch your tattoo while it is healing. Skin flaking & peeling will occur, this is normal and should be allowed to fall off naturally.

Remember! Your tattoo may look healed, but it has not fully settled into the skin for at least a month after you get it.
